As of November 18th, 2025, there are over 1,000 individual U.S. stocks that have outperformed Bitcoin this year.

Not 10. Not 100. Over 1,000.

Bitcoin is often compared to U.S. large-cap stocks like the S&P 500, but from a risk and volatility standpoint, it behaves much more like a single stock than a diversified index.

This isn't an indictment of Bitcoin or crypto enthusiasts.

Six weeks can be an eternity in crypto—I wouldn't bet against Bitcoin ripping higher from here and still outperforming U.S. large caps before year-end.

For clients who want exposure, Bitcoin and other digital assets can absolutely have a thoughtful, risk-managed place in a portfolio.

But like any volatile asset, size your position based on what lets you stay invested through the inevitable swings.

The best portfolio isn't the one with the highest potential return. It's the one that lets you sleep at night and still be invested 10, 20 or 40+ years from now.

And that’s true whether Bitcoin is at $90k, $9K or $900k.
